Six months most certainly does fly by! Yes the Gresham Farmers Market 2015 season has officially come to its end. And what a wonderful fun-filled season it most definitely was. From the hustle and bustle from May to October, to waking up at 4:00am every Saturday morning, tackling the extreme heat waves we had this year and battling the East County winds. We survived and enjoyed every minute of it; well speaking for myself, I enjoyed it!

One take away of this season, is truly appreciating the hard work of our loyal and committed market vendors. Wow, it’s unbelievable the amount of work that goes into selling their produce and products every single Saturday. Several of our vendors work full time jobs during the week and then work all day Saturday to provide good quality farm farm produce from their farms, fresh delicious gourmet products from their kitchens and hand-crafted artist work from their workshop to you our valued customers week in and week out always with a smile on their faces.

IMG_5095I consider myself a farmers market enthusiast, so prior to managing our farmers market, I would visit and go market hopping all over the metro area. From my observations, and it may seem I’m bias, but I have to say that our farmers market is truly a well-rounded traditional farmers market. We definitely have high quality vendors that produce high quality produce and products. We offer a large and spacious area for our customers that is centrally located in the heart of our Historic business district. And most of all, we have so much charm that makes our farmers market so welcoming and inviting to the consumer nestled among all the fabulous shops and eateries in Historic Downtown Gresham. I believe the business district and farmers markets seamlessly compliment one another to provide a quality experience for the consumer.

As for this 2015 season, I have received nothing but positive wonderful comments from the local businesses and community members. The community support is there and it was genuinely felt this season. Thank you to the City of Gresham, Historic Downtown Gresham Business Association, Gresham Chamber of Commerce, local Gresham area businesses, St.Henrys Church, Easthill Church, Gresham Police and Fire. We are so fortunate to have such amazing partnerships with all our supporting local organizations that made this season so successful.

mbankSpecial thank you to our major sponsor MBank for providing all the complimentary shopping totes and balloons all season to our customers all season long and for sponsoring our first farm to table fundraiser event. Thank you to PAPÉ our local Gresham dealer for providing and donating the fantastic show stopper John Deer agriculture tractor for the Teddy Bear Parade. And most of all much appreciation to you all our dedicated customers who support our market and for allowing us to service all your market needs.

To sum up the season, it was a first time experience. And I quickly learned it’s a lot of hard work and a lot of blood, sweat and tears goes into it. But we would do it all over again, YES we would, again and again! The farmers market is a lifestyle and we truly love this lifestyle.

The best part of the 2015 season is that it leads us into the 2016 season, our 30th Anniversary year! Watch out for this upcoming season it will be bigger, better a total blast! See everyone again in May :)

As Always,
